Monday, February 3 at 1:30 p.m. in Room 271 of the Colorado State Capitol, also known as the Old State Library, the Rural Affairs and Agriculture Committee of the Colorado General Assembly will be having its first hearing on the proposed Humane Pet Act. The legislation would prohibit the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores, set limits on the number of animals that can be bred, and require adequate space and exercise for breeding dogs and cats. Colorado Citizens for Canine Welfare will be there to testify.

We expect significant opposition from the pet industry for this legislation, HB20-1084, since millions of dollars are at stake. We ask that supporters contact the members of the committee or their representatives to express support of the legislation.
